Arata yang pendiam dan pemalu memiliki keahlian khusus yang tak terduga. Yaitu karuta kompetitif berdasarkan Seratus Sajak Ogura. Chihaya terkejut melihat Arata dengan antusias melempar kartu. ============================================================================== Puisi 02: Karena Merah Daun Berguguran Kata-kata dari Chihaya membuat Arata berkenan ikut dalam turnamen karuta melawan teman-teman sekelasnya, termasuk Mashima Taichi, yang tidak suka dengan Arata, seorang siswa pindahan. Taichi, yang tidak suka kalah, mencuri kacamata Arata selama turnamen karena persaingan dengan Arata, yang sudah jadi teman dekat dengan Chihaya. Chihaya menikmati bermain karuta dengan sepenuh hati. Melihat Chihaya seperti ini, hati Taichi tersentuh. ============================================================================== Puisi 05: Yang Menghilang di Balik Awan Ketika Chihaya diberi tahu oleh Arata bahwa dia tidak lagi bermain karuta, dia dan Taichi pergi ke Fukui, kampung halaman Arata. Di sana, Chihaya sangat senang melihat Arata dan mengusulkan agar mereka bertiga bermain karuta bersama lagi, tetapi Arata menolaknya. Arata yang dulu sudah tiada, dan Chihaya ingin mengetahui kebenarannya. ==============================================================================
